Elegy the movie and....trying to hide behind someone else's work.

Hello,

I am happy to be alive and able to reach out. Lets tone that down. I am healthy and honest and sober and have the right to reach out. No, too preachy for a man in my west 4th position. He was as innocent and old as the trees in his new found artistic backyard. In his dreams he had the intuitiveness of a jungle cat. Vancouver was his town and always would be. Hmmm. Kind of interesting.

I say the movie Elegy today with Penelope Cruz (please let me utter her name first) and another multi-layered performance by Ben Kingsley also known as the sexy beast and Ghandi. From the book by Phillip Roth entitled The Dying Animal. I went out and bought the book immediately. Here is a quote from the character in the movie and book named David Kepesh. 'No matter how much you know, no matter how much you think, no matter how much you plot and you connive and you plan, you're not superior to sex' The film is a nightmare for a man in question of his true and honest ethics in a changing world as he ages. I loved it.

I was definately an art lover tonight, allowed a vision of a relationship on celluloid that mirrored my own life but was so much more succinct and visual. I really ate up this film, Kingsley's performance is astounding.

It reminded me that it is alright to be conflicted with these types of questions as long as in my life as a man, i don't just pander the answers off to being art.

Who am I really?

I just moved to Vancouver after recently living in Taiwan and having a wonderful experience with children. In the love that they gave out without need for reprocussion of any sort. I wrote and acted, (a real leap of faith) in a short film in Toronto that is being edited right now. It looked interesting in the rushes, but you know, we will see.

The west coast has a flavour, an immediacy of beauty that is so apparent. I still feel like I am living as a tourist in a suspended bubble created by myself but the future looks promissing. I am moving in with these two chilean artists, guy and girl that are living in this abandoned store in an amazing area by the beach. They seem great, and I hope I can offer them some kind of a payoff whether it be intellectually or inspirationally.

The rain is coming but I feel alot of sunshine in this old soul.
